Zuma, Jacob Jacob ZumaZu·ma, Ja·cob /ˈzuːmə, ˈdʒeɪkəb/ (1942-) a politician who became president of South Africa in 2009. He was elected president of the African National Congress (ANC) in 2007. During the Apartheid years he was sent to prison for ten years in 1963. He spent this time on Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was also kept in prison.
