1) After all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities, thinking to conquer them for himself.

2) So Sennacherib king of Assyria and withdrew . He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.

3) So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and returned home and lived at Nineveh.

4) So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed , and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

5) Sennacherib went back home terrified. As he was praying to his own gods, two of his own sons killed him and ran away.

6) This is what Sennacherib king of Assyria says: On what are you basing your confidence,[http:///sennacherib.html] that you remain in Jerusalem under siege?

7) All we know for sure is that Sennacherib abandoned the siege and galloped back in disgrace to his kingdom, where he was murdered 18 years later, apparently by his own sons.

8) So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew . He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.

9) In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah's reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.

10) After God had accomplished the miraculous deliverance by sending His death angel over the besiegers ' camp, only a few survivors, including Sennacherib, returned to their homes in shame (37:29).

11) So the Lord saved Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Assyria and from the hand of all others. He took care of them on every side.

12) Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.

13) Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.

14) Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: 'This is what the Lord , the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.

15) Give ear, O Lord , and hear; open your eyes, O Lord , and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to insult the living God.

16) Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.
