1. Gubernaculum and sex hormones play critical roles in testicular descent.

2. Objective To discuss the clinical significances of abnormal gubernaculum testis.

3. Methods:A study group of 110 testes underwent scrotal subcutaneous orchiopexy through abdominal transverse cleavage line incision with gubernaculum testis reserved, 108 testes were followed up.

4. Undescended testis is frequently accompanied with the anomalies of the spermatic cord, gubernaculum testis, processus vaginalis, and epididymis.

5. Objective To discuss the feasible and clinic value of orchiopexy reserving gubernaculum testis and appropriate operative age of cryptorchidism.

6. These results indicated that 17B-estradiol might suppress the development of the distal portion if gubernaculum , processus vaginalis, and therefore inhibit testicular descent.

7. The molecule which might be suppressed by 17B-estradiol in the testis, epididymis or gubernaculum was not identified.
