1 If you really want to use Konqueror, for instance, it is probably most efficient to use KDE as your DE.

2 This is because Konqueror makes heavy use of shared KDE libraries that are loaded into lots of applications, as I am using the KDE desktop.

3 For instance, KDE's file manager, Konqueror (see Figure 1 below), is able to embed any kind of viewer, for any kind of file, because all viewers provide the same interface.

4 If this option is checked, Konqueror will open a new window when you open a folder, rather than showing that folders's contents in the current window.

5 Konqueror itself is basically a generic host for all read-only parts.

6 For Linux applications, I think Konqueror is the fastest for starting and viewing basic pages on KDE.

7 First, if you launch Konqueror and go to the Applications tab, you can browse some of your installed Linux applications by category, from Entertainment and Games to Internet and Multimedia.

8 Click on the image button to select from a list of images or drag and drop your own image on to the button (e. g. from Konqueror).

9 In the final remarks of this chapter I stated that the current code will not work very well with some clients, such as Konqueror. Fix the code to support this behavior.
