Muqtada al-Sadr Muq·ta·da al-Sadr /ˈmʊktɑːdə ælˈsɑːdrə/ (also Moktada-al-Sadr) (1973-) an Iraqi man with a lot of political and religious influence. He does not believe that the Iraqi Governing Council, put in place by the Coalition, has the right to govern the country. He wants the US-led Coalition soldiers to leave Iraq and wants the Iraqi army and the police to stop working with the United States. In June 2003 he organized a resistance movement, known as the Mahdi Army, which has rebelled (rebel) against the authorities on various occasions, resulting in many people being killed.Muq·ta·da al-Sadr Syllable |
