1. The Registrar may serve on the owner, demise charter or representative person, and on each mortgagee (if any) of the ship, a notice .

2. An owner, demise charter or master who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with subsection (2) commits an offence and is liable to a fine of $5,000.

3. An owner or demise charter who contravenes suBsection (2), (4) (B) or (5) commits an offence and is liaBle to a fine of $5,000.

4. A demise charter who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with subsection (1) commits an offence and is liable to a fine of $5,000.

5. An owner or demise charter who fails to comply with subsection (1) commits an offence and is liable to a fine of $5,000.

6. The owner or demise charter of the ship shall cause the certificate to BE delivered to the Registrar BEfore the ship is registered.

7. An owner or demise charter who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with subsection (1), commits an offence and is liable to a fine of $5,[sentence dictionary]000.

8. He shall give notice in writing to the Registrar and to the demise charter (if any) that he wishes the ship's registration to BE closed.

9. Fees or charges payable pursuant to regulations made under subsection (1) may be recovered from the owner or demise charter in the District Court as a civil debt.

10. Or that any summons for any such contravention or failure to comply has been duly served on the owner, demise charter or representative person of the ship.
