1. The 63rd session of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) opened in The Hague, The Netherlands, on 15th February, 2011.

2. Hundreds of delegates to CSP-15 and OPCW senior officials attended the opening ceremony and the Exhibition.

3. The destruction of chemical weapons is the most important, pressing and overriding task for the OPCW at present and in the years to come.

4. Last month, the Second Regional Meeting of National Authorities in Asia co-sponsored by China and the OPCW was held in Beijing and achieved desirable results.

5. China supports the effective implementation of the CWC and the smooth functioning of the OPCW.

6. In mid-July, 20 trainees from 19 countries will come to Beijing to take part in the assistance and protection training course organised jointly by China and the OPCW.

7. China has been active in supporting the work of the OPCW and has cosponsored, along with the OPCW, a seminar, as well as several training courses for inspectors.

8. The experience of existing multilateral verification mechanisms, such as IAEA and OPCW is of broader significance and deserves careful review.

9. The Executive Council, as a policy making organ of the OPCW, plays an important role in the course of the Convention's implementation.

10. While submitting all declarations in a timely and accurate manner, China has smoothly hosted over 240 OPCW inspections, of which 33 took place in the past 11 months of this year.
