1. The taxonomic status of Pterocarya micropaliurus Tsoong.

2. The 55 Pterocarya stenoptere provenances collected from its whole distribution were tested.

3. The loss rate of dry weight of Pterocarya insignis and Cercidiphyllum japonicum was 77% and 71%, and shat of Fagus engleriana and Cyclobalanopsis multinervis was 43% and 42%.

8. The role of bioassay method in study of relationship between insect and plant volatile as well as the biological significance of attraction of Pterocarya stenoptera to cotton bollworm were discussed.
