Castle, Barbara Barbara CastleCastle, Bar·ba·ra /ˈbɑːbərə $ ˈbɑːr-/ (1911–2002) a British politician who was a Labour MP from 1945 to 1979. She held many senior government positions, including Minister of Transport (1965–68) and Secretary of State for Employment (1968–70). She was also a Labour member of the European Parliament (1979–89). When she was Minister of Transport she introduced the Breathalyser test which is used by the police to test whether a driver has drunk too much alcohol.
