Brighton bomb ˌBrighton ˈbomb a bomb that almost killed the British prime minister, Margaret thatcher, in October 1984. The IRA exploded the bomb at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, where most members of the Conservative Government were staying for the 1984 Conservative Party conference. The bomb exploded at 2.40 am killing five people.
