Steinbrenner, George George SteinbrennerStein·bren·ner, George /ˈstaɪnbrenə $ -nər/ (1930–2010) a US businessman who became the owner of the New York Yankees baseball team in 1973. He was known for saying exactly what he thought, paying a lot of money for baseball players, and for changing the manager of the team a lot. He was suspended from baseball for two years in the 1970s after he admitted illegally giving money to Richard Nixon's campaign for president.
