Ban Ki-moon Ban Ki-moon /ˌbæn kiː ˈmuːn/ (1944-) a South Korean politician and diplomat who became Secretary-General of the United Nations in 2007. Before becoming UN Secretary-General he was the Foreign Minister of South Korea. He is known for being keen to solve the problem of global warming, and in 2007 he played an important role in persuading Sudan to allow UN peacekeepers into the Darfur region.Ban Ki-moon |
