Dr Dre Dr Dre /ˌdɒktə ˈdreɪ $ ˌdɑːktər-/ (1965–) an American rapper and record producer who was born in Los Angeles, California. He first became famous as a member of the hip-hop group NWA. After leaving NWA, he had success both as a rapper on his own records, and as a producer for other people including Snoop Doggy Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent. As a solo artist, he has made the albums The Chronic (1992), 2001 (1999), and Detox (2011). Dr Dre is also a businessman and has his own range of high-quality headphones called Beats by Dr. Dre.
