Sadat, Anwar al- Anwar al- SadatSa·dat, An·war al- /səˈdæt, ˈænwɑː æl $ -wɑːr-/ (1918–81) the president of Egypt from 1970 to 1981, who tried to bring peace between the Arabs and Israelis. He shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Menachem begin in 1978 and they signed the Camp David agreement in the following year.
