Milosevic, Slobodan Slobodan MilosevicMi·lo·se·vic, Slob·o·dan /mɪˈlɒsəvɪtʃ $ -ˈlɑː-, ˈslɒbədæn $ ˈslɑː-/ (1941–2006) the president of Serbia from 1989 to 1997, and president of the new country of Yugoslavia which was formed from Serbia and Montenegro from 1997 to 2000. In 2001 he was arrested and taken to a UN court in The Netherlands and charged with war crimes that took place in Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo.
